Job Summary
As AAG continues to grow, we are looking for an Accounting Associate to join our Finance team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and takes pride in accuracy, organization, and continuous improvement. The Accounting Associate will support the day-to-day processing of accounting transactions, provide financial and administrative support, assist with analysis and reporting, and contribute to process improvements that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of our finance operations.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assists Accounting Manager by posting daily vendor invoices in AP module for AAI.
- Assists with processing credit card and employee expenses.
- Processes and posts customer payments by recording online cheque and credit card transactions.
- Processes AR invoices and subsequent payments.
- Verifies validity of account discrepancies by obtaining and investigating information from sales, customer service department, and customers.
- Resolves collections by examining customer payment plans, payment history, credit line; coordinating contact with collections department.
- Responsible for the processing, review and posting of AR invoice payments.
- Responsible for the follow-up and collection of old AR invoices and open sales orders.
- Performs month end tasks; bank reconciliations for all currencies in AAI and OVR.
- Generates Shopify reports for AAI and OVR.
- Posts BA and LIBO (bank loan) entries monthly.
- Completes month-end close tasks and reconciliations for ancillary ERP.
- Assists with consolidated group’s month-end closing.
- Supports the business in monitoring internal controls and financial policies and procedures.
- Keeps company accounting records organized and readily available for examination as needed.
- Responds to customer service emails and requests for information internally and externally in a timely fashion.
- Provides supporting documentation for audits.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary degree or diploma related to accounting required.
- 2-3 years prior accounting experience
- A self-starter with strong interpersonal skills and above average analytical skills.
- Demonstrated problem-solver with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and shift priorities based on business needs.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with strong attention to detail.
- Positive attitude and eagerness to learn and grow in a dynamic environment.
- Experience demonstrating a high level of discretion with confidential information.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong Microsoft Office technical knowledge, particularly Excel.
- Understanding of general ledger and close period procedures.
- Proficiency in data entry with solid attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with strong attention to detail.
- Self-directed, able to work independently and as part of a team.
