Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Maintenance Technician to join the team at Hampton Inn & Suites Guelph. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining the hotel’s facilities, guest rooms, and equipment to ensure a safe, comfortable, and fully operational environment for guests and team members. This role requires a hands-on, proactive approach to maintenance, with a strong focus on preventative care, safety standards, and quick resolution of issues. The Maintenance Technician plays a key role in supporting guest satisfaction and overall hotel operations.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance of guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guests and staff, ensuring timely and professional resolution
- Troubleshoot and repair issues related to plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, and general building maintenance
- Complete minor repairs such as painting, drywall, carpentry, and fixture replacements
- Maintain and operate tools and equipment safely and efficiently
- Conduct regular checks of safety systems, including fire alarms, emergency lighting, and sprinkler systems
- Assist with room preventative maintenance programs to maintain brand standards
- Keep accurate records of maintenance work, repairs, and supplies used
- Support the setup of meeting rooms and hotel spaces as needed
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and brand standards at all times
- Collaborate with housekeeping and front desk teams to prioritize and coordinate maintenance tasks
Requirements
- Previous maintenance experience in a hotel or similar environment is preferred
- Strong knowledge of general building systems, including plumbing, electrical, and HVAC
- Ability to use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently
- Good communication skills and a service-oriented mindset when interacting with guests and team members
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and respond effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays if required
- Attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality and safety standards
