Job Overview
North Coast Excavation and Trucking Ltd. is seeking a reliable and experienced Class 1 Truck Driver to join our construction and transportation team. The successful candidate will be responsible for hauling excavation materials, aggregates, and construction equipment to and from job sites while ensuring safe and efficient operations. This position requires experience operating commercial trucks in construction environments and a strong commitment to safety and professionalism.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate Class 1 commercial trucks, including tandem trucks, truck and pup combinations, lowbeds, and equipment trailers.
- Transport excavation materials such as soil, clay, gravel, sand, rock, and demolition debris to designated disposal or supply locations.
- Haul aggregates and construction materials between suppliers, pits, and project sites.
- Load, secure, transport, and unload heavy equipment, including excavators, skid steers, compactors, and other construction machinery.
- Perform daily pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections and complete required inspection reports.
- Ensure all loads are properly secured and transported in compliance with provincial transportation regulations.
- Maintain accurate driver logs, timesheets, load slips, and delivery documentation.
- Conduct routine vehicle maintenance checks and promptly report mechanical issues or safety concerns.
- Follow all company safety policies, site-specific safety requirements, and applicable transportation regulations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, project managers, equipment operators, suppliers, and clients regarding delivery schedules and site conditions.
- Assist with general labour duties related to trucking and excavation operations when required.
- Maintain cleanliness and professional appearance of assigned vehicles and equipment.
Qualifications & Experience
- Valid Alberta Class 1 Driver's Licence with a clean driver's abstract.
- Minimum 2 years of commercial driving experience preferred.
- Experience operating truck and pup combinations, lowbeds, end dumps, or other heavy-haul equipment is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of load securement requirements and transportation regulations.
- Experience working in excavation, construction, aggregate hauling, or heavy civil projects is preferred.
- Ability to safely transport heavy equipment and construction materials.
- Strong understanding of workplace safety procedures and construction site hazards.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional overtime and weekend work when project schedules require.
- Physically capable of performing inspections, securing loads, and assisting with site-related tasks.
Work Environment
- Construction sites, gravel pits, landfills, supplier yards, and public roadways.
- Exposure to varying weather conditions and rough terrain.
- Overtime may be required during peak construction periods.
Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour
