Job Summary
We are looking for a Technical Support Engineer to join our team in Brampton, Ontario. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in software installation, configuration, deployment, troubleshooting, and technical support.
The successful candidate will be responsible for installing and configuring company software on client systems, resolving technical issues, assisting users, maintaining system performance, and ensuring that software and hardware are properly set up and functioning.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, update, and maintain company software and applications on client systems.
- Deploy software on desktops, laptops, POS systems, servers, and other supported devices.
- Troubleshoot software installation, configuration, compatibility, and performance issues.
- Provide technical support to clients through phone, email, remote access, and on-site assistance.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, operating system, application, and basic network-related issues.
- Configure Windows operating systems, applications, printers, peripherals, and related devices.
- Assist with software upgrades, patches, updates, and system maintenance.
- Ensure all installations are completed according to company standards and technical requirements.
- Provide user training and explain software functionality and basic troubleshooting procedures.
- Maintain records of installations, technical issues, resolutions, and system configurations.
- Escalate complex or unresolved technical issues to the appropriate development or senior technical team.
- Assist with network connectivity, Wi-Fi, LAN, Internet, and workstation-related issues.
- Support client onboarding by preparing systems and installing required software.
- Perform regular system checks to identify and resolve potential technical problems.
- Follow company security, data protection, and IT support procedures.
- Coordinate with development, implementation, and customer-support teams to resolve client issues efficiently.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- 1–3 years of experience in technical support, software installation, IT support, or a similar role.
- Hands-on experience installing and configuring Windows-based software and applications.
- Good knowledge of Windows operating systems, networking, printers, peripherals, and computer hardware.
- Basic understanding of LAN, Wi-Fi, TCP/IP, DNS, and Internet connectivity.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience with remote support and troubleshooting tools.
- Good documentation and communication skills.
- Ability to explain technical issues to non-technical users.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
- Customer-focused attitude with strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with technical teams.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with POS software or retail/restaurant technology is an asset.
- Experience installing and configuring business applications at customer locations.
- Experience with databases, cloud applications, or server-based software is an asset.
- Knowledge of Microsoft 365, Active Directory, remote desktop tools, and basic cybersecurity is an asset.
- Experience providing on-site technical support in the Brampton/GTA area is an advantage.
