Job Title: Sous Chef / Kitchen Manager (Part-Time: Weekend)
We are a Toronto-based meal prep company specializing in high-protein, macro-friendly meals. We're looking for an experienced Sous Chef / Kitchen Manager to lead weekend production while helping improve our systems as we continue to scale.
This is a hands-on leadership role, working closely with ownership to maintain quality, develop new menu items, and build efficient production systems.
Schedule
- Saturdays and Sundays
- Opportunity to add Fridays shortly after joining
Key Responsibilities
Production
- Prepare and oversee brines, marinades, sauces, dips, and side dishes, including fiber and carbohydrate options.
- Manage trimming, marinating, skewering, cooking, cooling and packaging protocols.
- Follow established SOPs to ensure consistent quality, yields, portioning, and food safety.
Kitchen Leadership
- Lead and train kitchen staff during production.
- Delegate tasks and ensure production targets are met.
- Follow, maintain, and continuously improve kitchen SOPs and production workflows.
Menu Development & Process Improvement
- Develop new flavors, sauces, and options for fiber and carbs.
- Explore techniques such as sous vide and other methods to improve consistency, moisture retention, and shelf life.
- Create and document new SOPs, standardized recipes, master spice blends, and batch preparation systems that improve efficiency and scalability.
Inventory & Food Safety
- Assist with inventory, purchasing, and food cost control.
- Maintain a clean, organized kitchen that meets all food safety standards.
Qualifications
- Experience as a Sous Chef, Kitchen Manager, or similar leadership role.
- Strong understanding of commercial batch production.
- Experience with menu development and recipe testing.
- Organized, proactive, and passionate about building efficient kitchen systems.
Compensation
- Part-time weekend position
- $20–25/hour, based on experience
- Opportunity to grow with a rapidly expanding food business. This role will transition to full-time in the fall.
Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour
