CertainTeed is seeking an experienced Technical Sales Manager, Wood to serve as a trusted technical partner to architects, contractors, independent manufacturer representatives, sales teams, and internal technical stakeholders.
Reporting to the General Manager, Decoustics, Wood, you will help transform architectural concepts into practical ceiling and wall solutions. You will provide technical guidance throughout the design and construction process, particularly on complex and landmark projects that require long-term coordination from initial design through installation.
This is an individual contributor role with broad visibility across Canada and the United States. You will collaborate closely with Sales, Preconstruction, Engineering, Estimating, Design, Product Management, Research and Development, Manufacturing, vendors, and other internal business groups.
Partner with architects during the Design Development and Construction Document phases, providing product expertise, design options, and project-specific technical solutions.
Advise customers and stakeholders on wood ceiling and wall applications, including wood species, veneers, solid wood, MDF, FRPB, coatings, stains, fabrication capabilities, design parameters, and MEP integration.
Collaborate with internal and external engineering and technical teams to ensure proposed product designs meet structural, acoustic, aesthetic, and performance requirements.
Guide contractors on installation methods, constructability, and the resolution of technical issues encountered in the field.
Support Sales, Estimating, and Design teams with project development budgets, takeoffs, value-engineering options, supplemental details, shop drawings, and bills of material.
Maintain current knowledge of relevant industry codes, standards, trends, and competitive products.
Provide market and customer feedback to Product Management and Research and Development, contributing to product line extensions, product development initiatives, and code-related requirements.
Represent the organization at trade shows, networking events, and other activities involving the architecture and design community and contractors.
IS THIS JOB FOR YOU?
A bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may also be considered.
At least 10 years of experience in technical sales, architectural products, construction, or related industry roles.
Experience working with CAD software, Revit, or parametric modelling tools.
Technical knowledge of architectural wood products, including wood species, veneers, raw materials, coatings, stains, fabrication processes, and ceiling or wall applications.
Strong knowledge of commercial construction processes, specifications, and project delivery methods.
Demonstrated ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, specifications, and shop drawings.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Ability to work successfully across a highly collaborative and matrixed environment involving commercial, technical, engineering, product development, and manufacturing stakeholders.
This position involves a combination of office-based work, customer visits, jobsite activities, and occasional exposure to plant operations. Travel of up to 35% is expected to support independent manufacturer representatives, area sales managers, customers, and active project sites

Certain provinces require pay information be provided in job postings. The national pay range for this position is 99 000$ to $126 000$ per year, however, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 13% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures.
