Calian Belgium is a legal entity registered in Belgium that serves as a hub for innovation and collaboration aimed at supporting Belgian Defence with training and exercise solutions. Our solutions combine local expertise, proven delivery methods, and interoperable live, virtual, and constructive (LVC) simulation to ensure “train-as-you-will fight” is realistic, repeatable and measurable, while remaining fully aligned with national priorities.
Calian has been selected as a contender to support the Belgian Army Simulation Centre (SIMCEN). We are ready to deliver Belgian-built capabilities, underpinned by decades of experience supporting the Canadian Army, British Army and the wider North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) ecosystem.
As part of this initiative, Calian is currently seeking a Contract Training Coordinator to support the Belgian Army Simulation Centre (SIMCEN) in Leopoldsburg, Belgium.
- Coordinates detailed resource allocation for exercise delivery
- Monitors the SIMCEN training calendar and manages requests for scheduled and unscheduled training activities
- Coordinates training reservations, resource availability, and scheduling conflicts across simulation systems and training locations
- Synchronizes planned and unplanned training activities with operational, technical, and management staff
- Coordinates with [MVdW1.1][TT1.2][JW1.3]exercise stakeholders to confirm training requirements, timelines, and support needs
- Reviews exercise plans and directives drafted by assigned Exercise Leads
- Maintains the exercise support synchronization matrix and tracks exercise milestones, planning conferences, and action items
- Ensures resource support from Belgian Defence is coordinated, including accommodations, transportation, facilities, and logistical support for remote training activities
- Supports preparation of Initial Support Estimates (ISE), Detailed Support Proposals (DSP), and Detailed Activity Reports (DAR)
- Acts as a Subject Matter Expert on Belgian Defence training systems, training management processes, doctrine, and policy
- Supports customer coordination activities and participates in planning conferences and exercise working groups
- Assists in collecting training feedback, lessons learned, and customer satisfaction information following training events
- Maintains visibility of exercise schedules, resource utilization, and emerging support requirements
- Backfills Operations Officer duties as required
- Must hold a Belgium Defence (BD) Candidate Senior Officer Course Qualification
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as an Operations/Training staff officer at Unit level or higher
- Previous experience working in the Belgian Army training system (Army Staff Branch 3) or at a school-level staff officer (Royal Higher Institute for Defence or LAND Competence Center) or higher is desirable.
- Having a Combat Arms background is considered an asset
- Proficiency in Dutch AND French AND English at CEFR B2 level or higher
- You must be eligible to obtain a Belgian Secret Security Clearance
- You must be able to work on-site
- You must be willing to travel
