Southern Specialties LTD is looking for a motivated and dependable Summer General Labourer/Handyman Assistant to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on work, wants to learn valuable trades, and is looking for the potential to transition into a permanent position after the summer.
No two days are the same. We work on a wide variety of residential, commercial, agricultural, and custom projects, giving you the opportunity to build experience across multiple trades.
What You'll Be Doing
As part of our team, you'll assist with a variety of projects, including:
- General construction and property maintenance
- Carpentry and handyman repairs
- Painting and staining
- Welding and metal fabrication
- Automotive, trailer, and boat repairs
- Equipment maintenance
- Loading, unloading, and organizing materials
- Operating hand and power tools safely
- Keeping job sites clean and organized
- Working alongside experienced team members to complete projects efficiently
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate is:
- Punctual, reliable, and eager to learn
- Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions
- Comfortable working on ladders and at heights up to 15 feet
- Able and willing to safely operate hand and power tools
- Has good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Physically capable of lifting materials and performing manual labour
- Works well independently and as part of a team
- Takes pride in producing quality work
- Has a positive attitude and strong work ethic
Requirements
- Must be a Canadian citizen
- Must reside within the Windsor-Essex or Chatham-Kent region
- Valid Class G driver's licence or reliable transportation to and from work
- Ability to work 20–40 hours per week
- Steel-toe work boots (preferred)
