L Bloxham Professional Corporation located in North West Calgary is seeking an Intermediate Staff Accountant to join our team. We are an established but growing CPA public accounting and tax firm. Our firm assists clients with bookkeeping, accounting, tax, planning, and consultation. Our client base spans Canada (excluding QC) and international jurisdictions, and includes small to medium-sized businesses, partnerships, individuals, non-residents, trusts, and estates.
The successful candidate must be willing work with the clients, our team of accountants and other professionals as well as assist with administrative work to complicated tax returns. We are a firm working towards becoming paper-light and embracing new technologies to assist with increase efficiency, decrease office costs, and improve client documentation.
What You’ll Do:
- Independently prepare compilation engagements from planning through file completion with minimal supervision
- Perform complex bookkeeping and account reconciliations, including bank, investment, intercompany, loan, trust, asset, and related-party accounts
- Process client payroll and prepare related filings
- Prepare and reconcile CRA accounts, payroll remittances, T-slips, GST/PST returns, CRA reviews, and other government filings
- Prepare and reconcile corporate, partnership, trust, and complex personal tax returns (resident and non-resident)
- Act as a liaison between clients and the Canada Revenue Agency
- Deliver responsive, professional client service through effective verbal and written communication
- Assist with office administrative functions as required
What We’re Looking For:
- CPA student (Capstone), CPA candidate, CFE successful writer awaiting experience requirements, or an experienced public practice accountant
- Minimum 2-3 years of public practice experience is required
- Strong technical knowledge of accounting standards and corporate/personal tax
- Experience with compilation engagements and tax preparation
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with CaseWare, Jazz-it, Profile, and QuickBooks Online (QBO) is an asset
- Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills
- Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy and consistency
- Self-motivated, proactive, and results-driven with a strong work ethic and integrity
- Current CPA ethics requirements completed
- Team-oriented, supportive, and committed to continuous learning and process improvement
