On-Call Casual Early Childhood Assistant / Floater
Under the direction of the Supervisor, the Early Childhood Assistant / Floater works closely with Registered Early Childhood Educators (RECEs) to support the implementation of age-appropriate programs that promote children's cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development.
The Early Childhood Assistant assists in providing a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment that reflects the organization's Program Statement and Philosophy, complies with the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA), and follows the principles of Early Learning for Every Child Today (ELECT), How Does Learning Happen?, Quality First, and Public Health Guidelines.
The Early Childhood Assistant is also expected to develop and maintain positive, respectful, and professional relationships with children, families, colleagues, and community partners while supporting the daily operation of the program.
Casual/ on call hours a week, should be available 8am-4pm as required
must be comfortable dishwashing, cleaning bathrooms, sweeping, mopping, garbage disposal, changing diapers
Qualifications and Requirements
- Knowledge of Early Learning for Every Child Today (ELECT), How Does Learning Happen?, play-based learning
- Experience working with young children in a licensed child care or early learning environment.
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR Level C certification.
- Current Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
- Current two-step Tuberculosis (TB) test.
- Up-to-date medical records and immunizations.
- Food Handler Certification is considered an asset.
- Ability to safely lift up to 20 kg (44 lbs.), including lifting and carrying children when necessary, and perform physical activities such as bending, kneeling, stooping, and sitting on the floor.
- Ability to actively engage with children through play, including singing, dancing, and participating in indoor and outdoor activities.
- Ability to work outdoors for an hour daily in all weather conditions, in accordance with the program schedule.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive, respectful, and professional relationships with children, families, caregivers, and colleagues.
- Comfortable participating in a Christian learning environment, including reading Bible stories, leading simple prayers, singing Christian songs, and supporting Christian values as part of the daily program.
Pay: $17.95-$19.00 per hour
