Community Living Espanola is seeking a motivated, compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing assistance and support to individuals in need, ensuring their well-being and enhancing their quality of life. This position requires a strong commitment to fostering a positive environment while promoting independence and dignity among those we serve.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct support to individuals, assisting with daily living activities such as personal care, meal preparation, and medication/medical appointments
- Participate in Individual Support Plans, Behaviour Support Plans, protocols and procedures for Individuals
- Provide role modelling, coaching and counselling of individuals
- Ensure the day to day/physical/emotional needs, dignity, privacy and confidentiality of individuals are maintained
- Supervise individuals during activities to ensure safety and engagement, offering guidance and encouragement as needed.
- Develop and maintain supportive relationships with individuals, understanding their unique needs and preferences.
- Participate in training sessions and staff meetings to enhance skills and knowledge related to client care.
- Promote social interaction, independence and self-determination by facilitating activities that encourage participation and enjoyment.
- Provide transportation of individuals when required
- Good computer skills knowledge
- Ability to be a good team player
Requirements
- Post Secondary diploma for Developmental Services Worker or equivalent in Human Services Field (preferred)
- Personal Support Workers certificate or Equivalent
- Valid Ontario Driver's License (Class G) and good driving record
- Vulnerable Sector Criminal Reference Check
- Valid First Aid certification
