We are looking for a hands-on Packaging Machine Assembler / Technician who enjoys building things, solving problems, and working with mechanical equipment.
This is more than an assembly position. You will have the opportunity to develop skills across mechanical assembly, fabrication, welding, machining, pneumatics, electrical wiring, automation, controls, commissioning, and field service.
If you have strong mechanical aptitude and enjoy working with your hands, this position can develop into a career as a Machine Builder, Automation Technician, or Field Service Technician.
What You'll Do
Working primarily in our shop, you will build, test, and commission custom packaging machinery.
Responsibilities include:
- Assemble and build custom packaging machinery and automated equipment
- Perform mechanical assembly, fabrication, and machine installation
- Install pneumatic components, tubing, and systems
- Complete electrical wiring and connections
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, bills of materials, pneumatic schematics, and electrical wiring diagrams
- Test completed machinery and participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT)
- Inspect equipment for quality, accuracy, and proper operation
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic problems
- Assist with machine commissioning and start-up
- Develop skills in welding, conventional milling, lathe machining, automation, and controls
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Occasionally travel to customer sites for installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and service

Required Qualifications
- Mechanical Technologist diploma or equivalent hands-on mechanical experience
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Solid mechanical assembly and fabrication skills
- Ability to read mechanical and pneumatic drawings
- Ability to follow electrical wiring diagrams
- Comfortable using hand tools and mechanical equipment
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Willingness to learn new technical skills
- Valid driver's licence
- Reliable, insured personal vehicle for customer service calls

- Industrial or packaging machinery
- Custom machine building
- Mechanical assembly

You do not need to be an expert in every area. If you have a strong mechanical foundation and the desire to learn, we will provide hands-on training and mentorship.
