The successful applicant will have recent experience teaching English Language Arts and Social Studies at the secondary level and be comfortable working with students across multiple grade levels.

Position Description:
This is a part-time Senior Humanities position providing coverage for a teacher on partial leave during Semester 1. The successful applicant will work a partial day on Mondays and will be responsible for teaching Social Studies 10 and English Language Arts 10 - 12.
The successful applicant will work collaboratively with colleagues to provide continuity of learning and programming for students. This position requires a teacher who is comfortable teaching across multiple secondary grade levels, establishing strong relationships with students, and working collaboratively within an established classroom and school program.
Educational Qualifications:
- A valid BC teaching certificate and current membership in the Teacher Regulation Branch.
- Bachelor of Education (Middle or Secondary) with a major in English or Social Studies
- Recent successful experience teaching English and Social Studies at the secondary school level in the past 5 years.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and classroom management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and execute multi-aged, integrated learning sequences.
- Demonstrated ability to use a variety of teaching and assessment strategies.
- Experience with a variety of learning management systems.
Required Competencies and Experience:
1. Demonstrated ability to plan engaging and developmentally appropriate learning for secondary students using backward design, differentiation, and responsive instructional approaches to meet the strengths, needs, interests, and abilities of diverse learners.
2. Demonstrated ability to create safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environments that foster student engagement, belonging, self-regulation, and responsibility for learning.
3. Experience collaborating with colleagues and the School-Based Team, including Inclusion Support, Aboriginal Education, Education Assistants, and Counselling, to plan and implement appropriate supports, adaptations, modifications, and differentiation for students with diverse learning and behavioral needs.
4. Knowledge and application of current, research-informed practices that support social-emotional learning, mental health literacy, and student well-being.
5. Demonstrated ability to establish clear learning intentions aligned with BC curriculum Big Ideas and Curricular Competencies, and to communicate student learning effectively with students and families in accordance with the K–12 Student Reporting Policy.
6. Demonstrated proficiency in assessment practices that support learning, including the use of varied assessment strategies to gather evidence of learning and inform instruction.
7. Experience using educational technologies to enhance teaching and learning, along with a demonstrated willingness to learn and integrate new tools and applications.
8. Demonstrated ability to incorporate Indigenous worldviews, perspectives, and knowledge into teaching and learning, and to build respectful relationships with students, families, colleagues, and community.
9. Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional learning and reflective practice aligned with school and district priorities.
