Position Summary
The Canning Line Production Worker is responsible for safely and efficiently operating and monitoring equipment on a manufacturing canning line. This role helps ensure products are packaged according to quality, safety, and production standards while maintaining a clean and organized work area.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate, monitor, and assist with equipment on the canning and packaging line.
- Load cans, lids, labels, and packaging materials as required.
- Inspect products and packaging for quality, defects, proper seals, labels, and appearance.
- Monitor the production line and report equipment issues or product concerns to the Line Lead or Supervisor.
- Perform basic cleaning and routine line checks according to established procedures.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
- Follow all workplace safety, food/product safety, and sanitation procedures.
- Complete required production records, quality checks, and documentation accurately.
- Assist with changeovers, line start-up, shutdown, and product transitions.
- Work effectively as part of a team to meet daily production targets.
- Perform other production duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous manufacturing, production, food processing, or packaging experience is an asset but not required.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Good attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to communicate clearly with supervisors and coworkers.
- Willingness to learn and follow safety and sanitation procedures.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials within the requirements of the position.
- Ability to work around operating machinery, noise, and varying temperatures as applicable to the facility.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
