Overview
As a Maintenance Technician, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the seamless operation of our dairy plant. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you’ll be responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting a variety of equipment, including UHT processors, processing systems, bag and carton fillers, high-speed packaging machines, and ancillary equipment. Your expertise will help extend the life cycle of our machinery, reduce downtime, and contribute to a safe, efficient, and high-performing facility.

Responsibilities
- Responsible to maintain all mechanical and electrical systems, all machinery at Hewitt’s Dairy and Hewitt’s Dairy Bar.
- Perform other related duties as required, consistent with the position and training provided.
- Perform Preventive Maintenance tasks as assigned, document completion including notes.
- Coordinate with Production, Maintenance and outside contractors and ensure that work is completed in a safe manner that complies with all necessary manufacturing codes, regulations and standards i.e. H&S, GMP’s, HACCP, WHMIS, MSDS etc.
- Communicate daily Maintenance Activities with Maintenance Manager and Maintenance team and update all daily logs.
- Improve and maintain existing PM systems.
- Ensure that required parts are ordered.
- Identify opportunities and make recommendations to continuously improve maintenance operations and efficiencies.
- Food Safety & Quality responsibility as outlined in SOPs & other training materials provided and accurate record keeping.
- Perform other related duties as required, consistent with the position and training provided.
Experience
- Possession of an Ontario and/or Interprovincial Certificate of Qualification as an Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) – 433A license is an asset.
- Minimum 3 years maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably food industry, dairy industry would be an asset.
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), CIP systems, and HACCP.
- Must display excellent sanitary habits and possess knowledge of HACCP.
- Strong preventative maintenance and troubleshooting ability.
- Knowledge of basic welding, machining and plumbing.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Flexibility to work various shifts based on operational needs, in accordance with the Ontario Employment Standards Act (ESA).
