Specification Writer – Architectural Hardware
We're looking for a Specification Writer to join our Architectural Hardware Specification team.
In this role, you'll prepare door hardware specifications, complete product conversions, and analyze architectural plans and specifications to recommend the appropriate hardware solutions. You'll work closely with our sales team, architects, and customers to support a wide range of commercial construction projects.
What you'll do:
Prepare door hardware schedules from architectural drawings and Specification.
Complete product conversions by identifying equivalent CANAROPA solutions.
Read and interpret architectural plans, specifications requirement, and technical drawings and provide door hardware specification writing service to architectural community for tendering.
Analyze project requirements to recommend appropriate door hardware solutions.
Clarify technical requirements, provide practical solutions when needed.
Update hardware schedules as projects evolve in coordination with engineers and architects and prepare economic feasibility studies and adjust cost estimates.
Prepare and maintain accurate project documentation and records, including project estimates, cost analyses, and project schedules.
Perform technical functions to support engineering activities.
Conduct site inspections to monitor door and hardware installations and ensure compliance with project specifications and applicable building codes.
What we're looking for:
More than 5 years of experience in an architectural hardware supplier or similar environment.
Strong knowledge of architectural door hardware products.
Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and technical specifications.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Experience with ERP, CRM, and Adobe software is an asset.
Post-secondary education (DEC or higher), or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Work experience in Bluebeam, Rivet and NetSuite is required.
Working toward or interested in obtaining the Architectural Hardware Consultant (AHC) designation is an asset, and possession of a Door and Hardware Consultant (DHC) certification is required.
Working hours 8:30 AM - 17:00 PM Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week
Wage starting at $38.50 / hour
Pay: $38.50-$40.00 per hour
