We are seeking a talented and skilled Line Cook / Prep Cook who is passionate about the culinary arts and dedicated to upholding our high standards of excellence.
Position Summary:
As a Line Cook / Prep Cook at louf, you will be an integral part of our culinary team, responsible for preparing and presenting exquisite dishes that reflect our commitment to quality and creativity. You will work under the guidance of our Head Chef and Culinary Director, collaborating with a team of culinary professionals to deliver an exceptional dining experience that exceeds guest expectations.
Responsibilities:
- Execute high-quality culinary techniques to prepare menu items with precision and creativity, ensuring exceptional taste and presentation
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation, adhering to strict hygiene and sanitation standards to ensure food safety
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to develop seasonal menus that highlight fresh, local ingredients and innovative cooking methods
- Monitor food quality and presentation, making adjustments as necessary to meet our high standards and maintain consistency across all dishes
- Assist in the training and mentoring of junior kitchen staff, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement
- Participate in inventory management, ensuring proper stock levels and rotation of ingredients to minimize waste
- Contribute to menu development by sharing creative ideas and culinary techniques
- Maintain an understanding of current culinary trends and techniques, continuously seeking opportunities for growth and improvement
Requirements:
- 2+ years of experience in a high-end restaurant or fine dining environment, with a strong background in modern culinary techniques
- Exceptional knife skills and proficiency in various cooking methods, including sautéing, grilling, and baking
- A deep understanding of flavour profiles, ingredient sourcing, and presentation standards in upscale dining
- Ability to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen while maintaining attention to detail and a commitment to quality
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team
- Culinary degree or relevant certification is highly preferred
- Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and some holidays
