The Quality, Governance, & Compliance Manager oversees Yusen Logistics Canada’s Quality programs as they relate to obtaining and maintaining GDP and ISO certifications, Kaizen initiatives, the Yusen Excellence Systems (Y.E.S.) program, and any related quality initiatives. They will also oversee the Company’s Governance and Compliance requirements as required by Global Headquarters and Yusen Logistics Canada’s Managing Director.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Quality Management:
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality management systems in compliance with ISO and Yusen Logistics Standard.
- Drive the Kaizen program to promote continuous improvement across all operational processes.
- Lead accident root cause analysis, identify and implement effective countermeasures and prevention management strategies.
- Oversee quality and process improvement initiatives for contract logistics/warehousing and freight forwarding operations by all modes of transport.
- Manage the quality program using the AQua system and ensure effective implementation of Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
- Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in cooperation with all departments and business units to ensure consistent operational excellence.
- Oversee quality management processes for vendors and subcontractors to ensure alignment with company standards and requirements (vendor/subcontractor management).
Governance and Compliance:
- Ensure implementation and adherence to the company’s global rules, policies, and processes - Yusen Logistics Standard.
- Lead governance and risk management initiatives to identify and mitigate potential risks.
- Develop and oversee the company’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) program.
Health & Safety:
- Lead the Joint Health and Safety Committee meetings and promote a culture of workplace safety.
- Conduct regular Workplace (gemba) inspections, and safety inspections to identify and mitigate risks.
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations and internal policies.
Audits and Reviews:
- Plan and coordinate internal and external audits to ensure compliance with regulatory and company standards.
- Lead quality management review meetings and report on performance metrics and improvement opportunities.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Post-secondary education in a related field (strongly preferred).
- Minimum five (5) years previous related experience.
- Proven track record of implementing, maintaining, and evaluating corporate Quality programs (e.g. Kaizen, Lean Six Sigma, Process Optimization, etc.).
- Excellent written and verbal business communication skills for communicating with customers/vendors.
- Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with corporate departments, key business partners and customers.
- Ability to input, retrieve and analyze data.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Forms, and Teams).
- Must be able to present oneself in a cooperative and professional manner with both internal and external customers and vendors.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Excellent planning, Kaizen and 5S skills.
