Description: The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team, collaborating on the delivery of holistic, comprehensive care and support to patients/residents and families. The LPN must be able to team lead effectively on their own. The LPN works to the full scope of practice in providing safe, quality care in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the AUPE Auxiliary Nursing Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications:
Required Qualifications: Graduate of a Practical Nursing program or recognized equivalent required. Active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses and Health Care Aides of Alberta (CLHA). Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a mental health or psychiatric setting with complex care needs. Experience in managing patients with complex mental health conditions, such as mood disorders, psychosis, or severe anxiety. Demonstrated ability in psychiatric assessment, medication administration, and crisis intervention. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong ability to work effectively within a team. High level of organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to educate patients and their families about mental health conditions and treatment plans.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification or training in mental health courses, such as Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI), Mental Health Studies - Suicide, Violent Behavior and Substance Abuse, Mental Health First Aid (MHFA), The Working Mind (TWM), De-escalation Techniques or other relevant mental health interventions. Understanding of relevant legislation and ethical guidelines, such as the Mental Health Act and privacy laws in Alberta. Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems, such as Connect Care.
