Overview
North Queens Nursing Home is a 44-bed Long Term Care Facility located in Caledonia, Nova Scotia. Caledonia is a rural community of Queens County, close to Kejimkujik National Park, and in close proximity to both the South Shore and Annapolis Valley. North Queens Nursing Home considers the needs of our residents as a whole, considering their social, emotional, spiritual and physical well-being.
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Dietary Services is a Registered Dietitian, and is responsible for the nutrition assessments of the residents and implementing nutrition care plans. The Director is responsible for the overall management of the Dietary Services, including scheduling, budgeting, menu planning and oversight of the day to day food service operations. The Director is an active member of an inter-disciplinary care team, as well as a member of the leadership team.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive nutritional assessments for patients based on medical history, lifestyle, and dietary habits
- Develop personalized nutrition plans tailored to individual health needs and treatment goals
- Educate patients on proper nutrition, dietary modifications, and healthy eating habits
- Monitor and evaluate patient progress, adjusting plans as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes
- Document all interactions and treatment plans accurately in electronic medical records systems
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and support multidisciplinary treatment approaches
- Provide bilingual support to accommodate diverse patient populations when applicable
- Assist with administrative tasks related to patient scheduling and record keeping while maintaining excellent customer service standards
Skills
- Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems for documentation and data management
- Strong computer operation skills to efficiently handle various software applications used in healthcare settings
- Excellent customer service skills with a compassionate approach to patient interactions
- Bilingual abilities are highly desirable to effectively communicate with diverse populations
- Ability to interpret clinical data and nutritional guidelines accurately
- Effective communication skills for educating patients and collaborating with team members
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage multiple cases simultaneously
