About Seeds of Leadership
For the past six years, Seeds of Leadership has been developing young people to become leaders who take responsibility, serve their communities, and create meaningful change.
Our Seed Leads learn by doing — leading real community projects, receiving mentorship and coaching, working in teams, and participating in immersive retreats, summits, and leadership experiences. To date, our youth have led more than 200 projects impacting over 10,000 people.
We are growing our team and looking for a third Youth Leadership Engagement Lead, with a particular focus on partnerships, outreach, sponsorship, and expanding opportunities for our youth.
The Role
This role combines two things we care deeply about:
Developing young people and building relationships that open doors for them.
Like our other Engagement Leads, you will mentor Seed Leads, support their Impact Projects, facilitate learning experiences, and help plan and deliver retreats, summits, coaching circles, and other major Seeds activities.
What will distinguish your role is a stronger external focus. You will proactively build relationships with schools, community organizations, businesses, sponsors, professional associations, and other partners who can help Seeds grow and create new opportunities for youth.
What You Will Do
Develop Young Leaders
- Mentor and coach Seed Leads through challenges, goals, and community Impact Projects.
- Know when to encourage, when to challenge, when to hold youth accountable, and when to step back and let them lead.
- Facilitate coaching circles, workshops, retreats, summits, and other leadership experiences.
- Continually learn about youth development, leadership, mentorship, and experiential learning — and apply that learning to improve our program.
Build Partnerships, Sponsorships & Outreach
- Build strong relationships with schools, community organizations, businesses, professionals, and potential partners.
- Develop opportunities for youth including mentorship, speakers, internships, partnerships, and community experiences.
- Build and manage a sponsorship pipeline — from identifying prospects and initiating conversations to proposals, follow-up, and long-term relationships.
- Represent Seeds at community events, meetings, conferences, and networking opportunities.
- Support recruitment by helping us reach exceptional young people and communities we are not yet consistently reaching.
Help Build Seeds
Seeds is a growing organization, not a highly departmentalized one. You will work closely with the rest of the team on events, programming, recruitment, systems, volunteers, communications, and new initiatives.
You will be expected to notice opportunities, take ownership, and help build solutions — not simply manage an existing job description.
Who We Are Looking For
We care more about the person and their demonstrated ability than a specific degree.
You may be a strong fit if you are:
- Passionate about developing youth and genuinely enjoy helping young people reach a higher level.
- A natural connector who comfortably starts conversations, builds trust, asks for introductions, and creates opportunities.
- Proactive and persistent — you follow up, move ideas forward, and do not wait to be told what to do.
- Hungry to learn — you seek feedback, read, experiment, reflect, and continually improve.
- Strong at execution — you can manage relationships, projects, deadlines, and details without losing follow-through.
- Grounded and trustworthy, with strong judgment and healthy boundaries when working with youth.
- Comfortable working some evenings and weekends, particularly during retreats, summits, coaching circles, and community events.
Relevant experience may include youth development, community engagement, partnerships, business development, sponsorship, nonprofit work, education, or event/program management.
What Success Looks Like
Within your first year, we should see stronger youth because of your mentorship, new partnerships creating meaningful opportunities for Seed Leads, a growing sponsorship network, a stronger recruitment pipeline, and someone who has learned quickly, taken ownership, and helped make Seeds better.
