Our client, a leading civil contractor in the Lower Mainland, delivers complex infrastructure projects including earthworks, roadbuilding, excavation & shoring, and underground utilities. They are seeking a Civil Estimator to join their growing team and play a key role in the successful pursuit and delivery of civil infrastructure projects.
- Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates and bid submissions for civil construction projects.
- Review drawings, specifications, geotechnical reports, and contract documents to determine project scope and requirements.
- Perform quantity takeoffs and develop detailed cost estimates for labour, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and indirect costs.
- Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate pricing from subcontractors and suppliers.
- Utilize HeavyBid software to prepare estimates, manage bid documentation, and develop pricing strategies.
- Participate in bid reviews, risk assessments, and value engineering exercises.
- Collaborate with operations teams to develop construction methodologies, schedules, and execution plans.
- Assist with project handover to operations following successful bid awards.
- Maintain current knowledge of market conditions, labour rates, material pricing, and industry trends.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and industry partners.
- 3+ years of estimating experience within civil construction.
- Experience estimating earthworks, roadbuilding, excavation & shoring, underground utilities, or related infrastructure projects.
- Proficiency with HeavyBid is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of civil construction means, methods, and production rates.
- Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Degree, diploma, or technical training in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline is considered an asset.
