Job Overview
A growing portable sanitation company is urgently looking for one dependable, hardworking and hands-on individual to join our team.
Our company provides portable washrooms and luxury restroom trailers for construction sites, commercial properties, private events, festivals and other short-term and long-term rentals throughout the Greater Toronto Area.
This is a combined driving, portable washroom servicing and property maintenance position. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering, picking up, cleaning and servicing portable washrooms while also assisting with landscaping, snow removal, general repairs and maintenance work at company-managed properties.
We are looking for someone who is reliable, mechanically inclined, comfortable working independently and capable of handling different types of hands-on work.
Paid Training
The successful candidate will receive a two-week paid training period.
During training, the employee will learn:
- How to safely operate the portable washroom service truck.
- How to pump, clean and service portable washrooms.
- How to deliver, pick up and position portable washrooms and restroom trailers.
- How to complete servicing routes and disposal procedures.
- Company safety procedures and equipment requirements.
- Property maintenance and seasonal work expectations.
Training will be paid at the regular hourly rate.
Portable Washroom Responsibilities
- Deliver and pick up portable washrooms and luxury restroom trailers.
- Service portable washrooms at construction sites, businesses, events and other customer locations.
- Complete scheduled servicing routes for long-term rental units.
- Pump out waste tanks using the company service truck.
- Refill fresh water, toilet paper, soap, chemicals and other supplies.
- Thoroughly clean, sanitize and inspect each washroom.
- Set up, level and position washrooms and trailers safely.
- Connect steps, stabilizers, water and power when required.
- Safely tow and back up utility trailers and restroom trailers.
- Transport waste to approved disposal facilities.
- Complete route sheets, service records, inspection forms and disposal documentation.
- Report damaged units, missing supplies, mechanical issues or unsafe site conditions.
- Communicate professionally with customers, site supervisors and event organizers.
- Keep the service truck, equipment and supplies clean and organized.
- Wash, prepare and perform minor repairs on portable washrooms and trailers at the yard.
- Assist with emergency deliveries, pickups or servicing when reasonably required.
Property Maintenance Responsibilities
When portable washroom deliveries and servicing routes are completed, the employee will assist with maintenance work at company-managed rental properties and yards.
Responsibilities may include:
- Performing basic handyman work and minor repairs.
- Identifying maintenance issues and reporting repairs that require a licensed contractor.
- Cutting grass at approximately five to six properties during the landscaping season.
- Operating lawnmowers, trimmers, leaf blowers and other landscaping equipment.
- Completing general yard cleanup and property maintenance.
- Picking up parts, tools, materials and supplies.
- Using basic hand tools and power tools safely.
- Assisting with snow plowing and winter maintenance at a commercial yard alongside another team member.
- Cleaning and organizing company yards, storage areas and equipment.
- Taking before-and-after photographs and providing updates when work is completed.
Qualifications
- Valid Ontario driver’s licence.
- Clean or reasonably clean driver’s abstract.
- Comfortable driving pickup trucks and commercial service vehicles.
- Experience towing and backing up trailers is strongly preferred.
- DZ licence is considered an asset but is not required.
- Previous experience in delivery driving, portable sanitation, landscaping, snow removal, construction or property maintenance is an asset.
- Basic mechanical knowledge and general handyman skills are preferred.
- Comfortable handling sanitation equipment and wastewater safely.
- Comfortable working outdoors in different weather conditions.
- Able to lift approximately 50 pounds and complete physical work throughout the day.
- Able to operate lawn-care and snow-removal equipment.
- Able to use a smartphone for GPS directions, photographs, route information and job updates.
- Dependable, punctual, honest and able to work independently.
- Strong attention to detail and good customer-service skills.
- Legally eligible to work in Canada.
Schedule
This is a full-time position. Most work will take place during daytime hours; however, occasional early mornings, evenings, weekends and extended hours may be required depending on servicing schedules, emergency requests, events, weather conditions and seasonal workload.
Additional hours may be available during the busy event and winter seasons.
Compensation
- Starting rate of $22.00 per hour.
- Paid bi-weekly.
