Head Chef — Lunch & Brunch
ivy. — Duncan Street, Downtown Toronto
Home by 4. Every day.
You've spent years giving your nights and weekends to kitchens that ran you into the ground. This isn't that.
ivy. is a Toronto coffee brand with two locations and a real point of view — good coffee, good food, done properly. Our Duncan Street shop sits at the base of a 57-storey residential tower with 10 floors of offices above us. Thousands of people live and work directly overhead. That's your morning rush, your lunch crowd, your weekend brunch. We're opening the food program and we want a chef to own it.
What makes this different
- Lunch and weekend brunch. Most days done around 4:00 PM.
- A short menu. We'd rather do eight things brilliantly than thirty things adequately.
- A captive audience of residents and office tenants living and working in the building above you.
- No dinner grind. No 1 AM breakdowns. No Saturday night in the weeds.
- You build it: recipes, systems, standards, culture. Not inherited, not handed down.
What you'd own
A focused breakfast and lunch menu, weekend brunch, and seasonal development. You'll start with a team of 1–3 and grow it as the program grows. Ordering, costing, inventory, scheduling, hiring, training — the whole kitchen is yours to run.
You'll work directly with ownership. No layers, no committee, no corporate menu deck landing in your inbox.
Who we're looking for
- 3+ years leading a kitchen (Head Chef, Sous, or similar)
- Background in restaurants, cafés, brunch concepts, hotels, or casual upscale dining — we care more about how you cook than where you've cooked
- You can cost a menu and hold a food cost
- You're organized and you're consistent — the two things that actually matter
- You want to build something rather than maintain someone else's thing
- Food Handler Certification
What you get
Daytime hours and a schedule you can plan a life around. Real influence over menu, systems, and culture. Growth as ivy. grows. Competitive comp based on experience. Staff meals, coffee, and perks.
Full-time, permanent. In person, downtown Toronto.
