The Antigonish Farmers Market is seeking a dynamic Promotions Assistant to support our efforts in engaging the community and promoting local vendors. This role offers an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about food, marketing, and community outreach to contribute to the vibrant atmosphere of the market. The Promotions Assistant will be instrumental in enhancing market visibility, organizing product demonstrations, and creating a welcoming environment for visitors.
Requirement:
● Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person on who refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
● Legally entitled to work according to relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations.
Duties
- Assist with marketing initiatives to increase awareness of the Farmers Market through social media, flyers, and community events
- Coordinate and participate in product demos to showcase local vendors’ offerings
- Engage with visitors to provide information about vendors and products, ensuring excellent customer service
- Support sales activities by promoting market products and encouraging vendor participation
- Collaborate with vendors and staff to ensure smooth event operations and promotional activities
- Maintain a friendly, professional demeanor to foster a positive market experience for all attendees
Experience
- Previous experience in food service, marketing, or sales is preferred but not required; enthusiasm and willingness to learn are essential
- Strong communication skills, including public speaking and bilingual abilities, are highly valued
- Customer service experience will be advantageous in engaging with visitors and vendors effectively
- Experience with product demonstrations or event promotion is a plus
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well within a team are important for success in this role
Pay: $22.00 per hour
