Position Summary
We are looking for a motivated Automotive Service Technician Apprentice, Levels 1 to 3, to join our service team. The successful candidate will assist licensed technicians with vehicle inspections, maintenance, repairs, tire services, diagnostics, and general shop duties while continuing to develop their technical skills through hands-on experience and apprenticeship training.
This position is ideal for someone who is reliable, eager to learn, safety-focused, and committed to growing into a fully licensed Automotive Service Technician.
Key Responsibilities
The Automotive Service Technician Apprentice will be responsible for assisting with and performing duties appropriate to their apprenticeship level, including:
- Performing oil changes, fluid checks, filter replacements, and basic maintenance services.
- Completing tire repairs, tire installations, rotations, balancing, and seasonal tire changeovers.
- Assisting with brake, suspension, steering, exhaust, and drivability inspections.
- Helping licensed technicians with diagnostics, repairs, and vehicle servicing.
- Performing basic repairs under supervision as skill level allows.
- Using hoists, tire machines, balancers, scan tools, hand tools, and power tools safely.
- Completing vehicle inspections and reporting findings clearly to the supervising technician or service advisor.
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Following all company safety policies, shop procedures, and manufacturer repair guidelines.
- Ensuring customer vehicles are treated with care and kept clean.
- Properly documenting work performed on repair orders.
- Continuing apprenticeship training and improving technical knowledge.
Requirements
- Registered or eligible to register as a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd Year Automotive Service Technician Apprentice.
- Previous shop, tire, lube, or mechanical experience is an asset.
- Valid driver’s licence preferred or required depending on company insurance policy.
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
- Basic knowledge of automotive systems, tools, and shop safety.
- Ability to lift tires, parts, and equipment as required.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Positive attitude and professional communication skills.

Working Conditions
- Full-time shop position.
- Work is performed in an automotive repair facility.
- Requires standing, bending, lifting, kneeling, and working around vehicles and shop equipment.
- May involve exposure to noise, dust, fluids, tires, and normal shop conditions.
- Personal protective equipment must be worn as required.
Compensation
Wage will be based on apprenticeship level, experience, and demonstrated ability. Opportunities for advancement, continued apprenticeship support, and wage reviews may be available based on performance, reliability, and skill development.
Position Goal
The goal of this position is to support the apprentice’s growth into a skilled, licensed Automotive Service Technician while providing quality service, safe repairs, and professional workmanship for every customer vehicle.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00-$28.50 per hour
