Description of tasks/role
- Teaching positions can be either full-time or part-time depending on the qualifications of the candidate and the needs of the school.
- Teachers are expected to develop and prepare materials and content to be taught to students in accordance with the pedagogical programs authorized by the MEQ (ministère de l'Éducation du Québec) and the school's educational plan.
- Be punctual and administer and enforce the school’s rules in the classroom as well as in the rest of the building.
- Teach students using a methodical plan that includes lectures, discussions and audiovisual presentations.
- Prepare, administer and correct student work and evaluations.
- Provide feedback throughout the term and at the end of the term through a report card by way of evaluation grades, assessments and comments.
- Evaluate student progress and discuss results with students, parents and school authorities.
- Participate in pedagogical meetings, staff meetings, educational conferences, training workshops and organized school activities throughout the year.
- Ensure good classroom management and maintain discipline.
- Ensure that students respect the established code of conduct and other established school rules.
- Report progress and activities regularly to school administration.
Qualifications
- Must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Education or in a field relevant to a potential teaching position from a recognized institution.
- Must hold a Quebec teaching license (Brevet d’enseignement), or provide proof of imminent obtainment of a Quebec teaching license (through an equivalent license of a different jurisdiction), or provide proof of imminent completion of a teaching certification leading to the obtainment of a Quebec teaching license.
- Must have an excellent mastery of either the French or English language (spoken and written). Fluent bilingualism is preferred.
- Prior teaching experience is a strong asset.
