Description:
The Sous Chef is responsible for assisting the Chef in overseeing all aspects of kitchen operations, ensuring high standards of food quality, consistency, and efficiency. This role involves supporting menu execution, staff supervision, inventory management, and compliance with health and safety regulations. The Sous Chef plays a crucial role as part of the management team in maintaining kitchen discipline, assisting in training, and ensuring smooth service.
The Sous Chef will maintain a strong presence in the kitchen, upholding the company's culinary vision and standards while fostering a culture of teamwork, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure high standards of food preparation and presentation, focusing on Mediterranean cuisine.
- Support the Chef in ensuring smooth and efficient daily kitchen operations.
- Enforce standard operating procedures related to food preparation, cleanliness, and equipment use.
- Assist the Chef in menu planning and recipe development, with an emphasis on Mediterranean cuisine.
- Assist in training, supervision, and mentorship of kitchen staff.
- Support the execution of seasonal and promotional menus, ensuring proper training for new dishes.
- Ensure every dish is prepared according to company standards and specifications from the Recipe Binder.
- Manage inventory and order supplies as needed.
- Assist in implementing cost-control measures to optimize profitability.
- Promote a positive work environment that fosters teamwork, respect, and professionalism.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of three years of professional cooking experience and one year of supervisory experience are required.
- Experience in cooking Mediterranean or Italian cuisine preferred.
- Fluent in English.
- FoodSafe and First Aid Certificate required.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to remain calm and prioritize tasks under pressure.
- Precision in following recipes and presentation guidelines.
- A genuine passion for the restaurant industry and providing excellent customer service.
