A leading Toronto-based entertainment and hospitality venue is seeking an experienced Accountant to join our growing team.
This position is ideal for an accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has experience managing the financial operations of restaurants, bars, nightclubs, entertainment venues, or other high-volume hospitality businesses.
Please note: This is not an entry-level position. We are seeking candidates with demonstrated experience in full-cycle accounting and bookkeeping who can work independently with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Full-cycle accounting and bookkeeping
- Payroll processing, payroll reconciliations, and government remittances
- Accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Invoicing, collections, and payment processing
- Credit card reconciliations and expense allocations
- Bank reconciliations and merchant terminal reconciliations
- Event revenue reconciliation and financial reporting
- Liquor inventory reconciliation and inventory account management
- Prepare and analyze Profit & Loss (P&L) statements
- Month-end and year-end accounting procedures
- Maintain accurate accounting records using QuickBooks
- Prepare GST/HST, EHT, and other required government remittances
- Prepare balance sheets, financial reports, and forecasting documents
- Assist with budgeting, financial analysis, and variance reporting
- Maintain organized financial documentation and supporting records
- Support audits and ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards
- Provide general accounting and administrative support as required
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of accounting and bookkeeping experience
- Advanced knowledge of QuickBooks (Desktop and/or Online)
- Strong understanding of Canadian GST/HST requirements and payroll remittances
- Experience preparing Profit & Loss (P&L) statements and financial reports
- Experience with liquor inventory reconciliation is considered a strong asset
- Hospitality, restaurant, nightclub, or entertainment accounting experience is highly preferred
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, reporting, and PivotTables
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities
Position Information
- Full-time and part-time opportunities are available.
- This is a fully in-person position. Remote or hybrid work is not available.
- All interviews are conducted in person at our Toronto location.
- Candidates must be legally entitled to work in Canada. Proof of eligibility will be required upon hire.
