The TGCA is hoping to fill the following shifts in our arena department.
Saturday/Sunday 6:00am-3:30pm some weekdays/nights.
Under the direction of the Arena Manager, the Arena Attendant is responsible for Arena maintenance and to ensure a safe and positive environment for our rentals and guests.
Tasks include but are not limited to the following:
- Maintenance & preventative maintenance of the Arena and equipment
- Maintenance and ice surfaceing
- Inspection of refrigeration plant
- Daily inspections of all dressing rooms
- Janitorial Duties including sweeping, mopping and general cleaning
- Perform general carpentry, minor electrical, painting and plumbing tasks
- Perform all regular maintenance and preventative maintenance duties
- Snow removeal
Customer Service, Safety and Security
- Liaise with public regarding community facilities.
- Ability to inform the public with general guidelines, diplomacy and tact.
- Ability to follow through with assigned tasks, to ask questions and ensure that the tasks are completed in an effective, timely and efficient manner, based on policy or the Arena Managers direction.
- Maintain security of arena, doors and (alarms if needed) for all community property and facilities.
- Provide assistance to the public on the use of community facilities. (I.E Score clock/Sound Systems)
- Understand the Facility’s Health & Safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain a clean, safe and healthy work environment and public spaces.
Communication
- Maintain regular contact with The Arena Manager to identify and resolve issues, respond to public complaints and concerns, and provide background information on complaints and emerging issues; attend staff and training meetings as requested.
- Assist independent contractors, suppliers and facilities service providers, as directed by the Arena Manager.
- Promote the health and safety of colleagues, and maintain a clean, safe and healthy work environment and public spaces.
- Participate in regular performance reviews with the arena Manager and identify personal and professional training and development needs.
- Prepare facilities and outdoor spaces for events and rentals on community property. (If required)
Repairs and Maintenance
- Provide minor construction, repairs, security and maintenance for arena, facility, and grounds in accordance with the Arena Managers direction.
- Work to promote energy efficiency, controlling utility and facility operating costs, and communicate risk management issues to the Arena Manager for arena and grounds.
- Perform other duties assigned as per the Arena Manager.
Health and Safety
Responsible, as an employee, for health & safety under the Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA). This includes, but is not limited to:
- Working safely within the law and safe work practices/procedures (understanding and following standard operating procedures, wearing personal protective equipment, using MSDS information, ensuring all guards are in place).
- Immediately reporting unsafe acts, conditions, or contraventions of the OHSA to the Arena Manager.
- Maintaining a clean, orderly and safe work area at all times.
Must have a class 5 licence and reliable transportation.
