Sister Carmelina’s Preschool Academy is located in Woodbridge Ontario and is seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic and experienced Early Childhood Educator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with young children and creating a nurturing learning environment. The RECE will take responsibility for organizing activities, maintaining safety, and providing a consistently well-run, high-quality program. This is a Floater/Standby position. You must be available to work flexible hours Monday to Friday throughout the year.
Responsibilities:
- Lead a toddler/preschool program based on Ministry of Education guidelines.
- Plan and organize a safe environment and supervise children to protect their safety and personal well-being at all times while in the program.
- Work as part of a team.
- Plan and implement suitable high quality care programs and play based education - How Does Learning Happen? Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years (HDLH) curriculum to meet the needs of all children.
- Plan physical activity program for up to 60 minutes twice daily.
- Design and implement art, STEM, nutrition, cooking, anti-bullying, health information activities, social skills, and other curriculum as required.
- Utilize early childhood education techniques to develop engaging lesson plans.
- Maintain up-to-date program records, including attendance.
- Communicate with parents/caregivers and teachers on a daily basis to provide updates.
- Set up and prepare classrooms according to the policies and guidelines provided.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field such as Early Childhood Education, Child and Youth Work, Education, etc.
- Experience in behaviour management, and conflict resolution.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective partnerships with parents/ families, colleagues, school personnel and service providers of diverse backgrounds, abilities and identities.
- Strong skills in knowledge of and ability to lead physical activity, health and nutrition and social skills activities.
- Proven track record in using positive, effective strategies to lead activities with groups of children.
- Ability to prioritize.
- Experience working with children with extra support needs.
- Knowledge and awareness of Catholic traditions and holidays or the willingness to learn.
- Current Standard first aid/ CPR Level C certificate required.
- Updated immunization records required.
- Acceptable Vulnerable Police Record Check.
