Position Summary
The Maple Syrup Production Associate is responsible for supporting all aspects of maple syrup production, from processing to packaging, storage, and facility maintenance. This role ensures that maple products are produced safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company quality standards, food safety regulations, and operational procedures.
The ideal candidate is reliable, safety-conscious, physically capable of working in varying weather conditions, and committed to maintaining the highest standards of product quality.
Key Responsibilities
1. Sap Processing
- Monitor sap storage tanks and processing systems.
- Operate and maintain sap production equipment.
- Monitor syrup density, temperature, and quality throughout production.
- Ensure production records are accurately completed.
- Assist with filtering, transferring, and storing maple syrup products.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of processing equipment and work areas.

2. Syrup Production
- Assist in operating processing equipment.
- Monitor boiling procedures to ensure product consistency.
- Filter maple syrup according to established quality standards.
- Grade and classify maple syrup products.
- Transfer finished products into designated storage containers.
- Report any quality concerns immediately.
3. Packaging & Inventory
- Bottle, label, and package maple syrup products.
- Inspect packaging materials and finished products.
- Maintain accurate inventory of finished goods and production supplies.
- Prepare products for shipping and retail distribution.
- Assist with inventory counts and stock rotation.
4. Food Safety & Quality Control
- Follow all food safety procedures and sanitation standards.
- Maintain clean and organized production areas.
- Complete cleaning and sanitation schedules.
- Adhere to allergen and contamination prevention procedures.
- Participate in quality inspections and audits.
- Ensure compliance with applicable food safety regulations.
5. Equipment Maintenance
- Clean and maintain production equipment.
- Conduct routine equipment inspections.
- Report equipment malfunctions or maintenance concerns.
- Assist with preventative maintenance programs.
- Ensure tools and equipment are properly stored.
6. Facility Maintenance
- Maintain cleanliness of production, warehouse, and storage areas.
- Assist with waste removal and recycling procedures.
- Support seasonal setup and shutdown activities.
- Perform general labor and grounds maintenance as required.
- Ensure work areas remain safe and free from hazards.
Safety Responsibilities
- Follow all workplace health and safety policies.
- Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Report accidents, incidents, and near misses immediately.
- Practice safe lifting and material handling techniques.
- Maintain awareness of hot surfaces, steam, and production hazards.
Customer Experience Support
When production operations permit, employees may:
- Assist with guest tours and demonstrations.
- Explain maple syrup production processes to visitors.
- Support retail operations during peak periods.
- Promote a positive and welcoming visitor experience.
Qualifications Required
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (23 kg).
- Ability to work in hot, cold, wet, and outdoor conditions.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
Preferred
- Previous food production, manufacturing, agriculture, or maple syrup production experience.
- Food Handler Certification is an asset.
- Basic mechanical aptitude.
