Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Class 1 Truck Driver to join our dynamic logistics team. In this role, you will be responsible for safely operating heavy-duty trucks to transport freight across various routes, ensuring timely deliveries and maintaining the highest safety standards. Responsibilities
- Safely operate Class 1 heavy-duty trucks to transport freight over short and long distances, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, including checking brakes, lights, tires, and load security
- Load and unload freight using forklifts or other heavy equipment when necessary, ensuring proper handling and securement of cargo
- Maintain accurate documentation of deliveries, mileage logs, fuel consumption, and inspection reports
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, warehouse staff, and clients to coordinate pickups and deliveries
- Perform routine vehicle maintenance tasks or report mechanical issues promptly to ensure optimal truck performance
- Assist with basic automotive repairs or troubleshooting minor mechanical problems as needed
Requirements
- Valid Class 1 commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record
- Proven experience in commercial driving and freight transportation
- Proficiency in operating heavy equipment such as forklifts and other loading machinery
- Knowledge of safety protocols related to heavy vehicle operation and freight handling
- Ability to perform basic automotive repairs or troubleshooting minor mechanical issues
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail for accurate record keeping
- Physical ability to lift heavy loads, perform inspections, and work in various weather conditions
