Fair Haven Homes Society is looking for casual Registered Nurses at Vancouver Lodge & Burnaby Lodge Long Term Care Homes!
Shift times are: Day: 7:00 am -3:00 pm / Evening: 3:00 - 11:00 pm / Night: 11:00 pm - 7:00 am

You possess a Baccalaureate degree in Nursing and a knowledge base and clinical skills applicable to gerontological nursing. New graduates are welcome!
SUMMARY OF POSITION
Working from the Burnaby or Vancouver site and reporting to the Assistant Director of Care, this position provides leadership and supervision to LPNs and Care Staff in gerontological nursing theory and techniques, and serves as a member of the multidisciplinary team.
Responsibilities include:
Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates resident care needs, including physiological, psychological, socio-cultural, and spiritual needs.
Provides direct resident care, including administering medications and treatments.
Communicates, participates in, and consults with the interdisciplinary team to ensure quality, resident-focused care.
Maintains paper and electronic documents for accuracy and relevancy, and ensures confidentiality is followed as per policies.
Provides work direction to other care staff.
Contributes and maintains a safe environment for residents and/or tenants, family and staff by:
- Following resident safety-related policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Maintaining knowledge of emergency procedures.
- Utilizing infection control best practices and procedures.
- Using skills, physical facilities, supplies and equipment safely and appropriately.
- Identifying and reporting any potential or actual resident or staff safety concern in a timely manner.
Participates in continuous quality improvement, education sessions, resident care conferences, meetings, and committees.
Provides first aid treatment.
Performs other related duties as required.
What you bring:
Education, Training, Experience:
- Current registration with the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia (BCCNM) in good standing.
- Graduated from a Nursing program
- Valid Occupational First Aid 1
Nice to have:
- Experience in Gerontology Nursing
- Experience in person-centred care
Job Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing in the English language.
- Ability to plan, organize, prioritize work and problem-solve.
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
- Computer literacy.
