Job Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the Mavis McMullen Place Manager, the Assistant Manager plays a vital role in supporting the overall operations and daily tasks that help Mavis McMullen Place run smoothly for both staff and tenants. This role is both administrative and tenant/community-focused. You will be hosting or assisting with community events and gatherings at least once a month, and administrative tasks daily.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in the non profit housing sector (in admin, maintenance or supportive roles)
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in task execution
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint)
- Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous culture, customs and beliefs
- Assist tenants with accessing referrals, applying for passes or outside resources, understanding tenancy agreement
- Demonstrated interest in gender-based violence prevention, family violence, mental health, community outreach, advocacy, and/or social justice work
- Knowledge and understanding of trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, culturally responsive, and client-centered approaches
- Ability to work collaboratively and be a self starter
- Approaches interactions with individuals who face health issues such as FASD, addiction, intergenerational trauma, mental health, suicidal tendencies, and other mental and behavioural challenges with empathy and professionalism
- A valid driver’s license is considered an asset and a Criminal Records Check will be required (cost reimbursed)
- Extended medical and dental coverage after 3 months, 3 weeks vacation per year after 1st year
