As we continue to grow, we are seeking an experienced and driven Shift Supervisor to help lead daily operations and support the development of a high-performing café team.
Position Overview
The Shift Supervisor serves as the operational leader on duty and is responsible for ensuring exceptional execution across all aspects of the guest experience and café operations.
This role requires a hospitality professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, leads by example, and understands that outstanding service, product quality, and team engagement are the foundation of a successful café operation.
The successful candidate will oversee daily execution, coach and develop team members, maintain operational standards, and support the achievement of business objectives while delivering a best-in-class customer experience.
Key ResponsibilitiesOperational Leadership
- Lead and direct daily café operations while ensuring seamless service execution.
- Act as the primary point of leadership during assigned shifts.
- Ensure all opening, transition, and closing procedures are completed accurately and efficiently.
- Maintain exceptional standards of cleanliness, organization, food safety, and operational compliance.
- Monitor labour deployment and workflow to maximize productivity and guest satisfaction.
Guest Experience Excellence
- Deliver and champion an elevated hospitality experience for every guest.
- Resolve customer concerns with professionalism, urgency, and sound judgment.
- Foster an environment where service excellence and guest engagement are non-negotiable standards.
- Identify opportunities to increase guest loyalty, repeat visits, and positive customer experiences.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, coach, mentor, and motivate team members to achieve performance expectations.
- Support onboarding and training initiatives for new employees.
- Provide real-time coaching and constructive feedback to improve performance and consistency.
- Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Lead by example through professionalism, work ethic, and positive leadership behaviors.
Product & Quality Management
- Ensure all beverages, waffles, desserts, and food items are prepared consistently to WAFFL'D brand standards.
- Maintain quality assurance standards for presentation, portion control, and recipe execution.
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate supply requirements proactively to management.
- Minimize waste and support cost-control initiatives without compromising quality.
Financial & Administrative Responsibilities
- Support cash management procedures, POS reconciliation, and daily sales reporting.
- Assist management with labour management and operational reporting.
- Support the achievement of revenue, productivity, and profitability objectives.
- Ensure company policies, procedures, and compliance requirements are consistently followed.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of leadership or supervisory experience within a specialty coffee shop, café, bistro, dessert café, bakery café, or premium hospitality environment.
- Previous experience with espresso equipment and specialty beverage preparation is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams in a high-volume, customer-facing environment.
- Strong operational, organizational, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
- Reliable transportation is required.
- Flexible availability including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Experience
Candidates with experience in independent cafés, specialty coffee operations, artisan bakeries, dessert cafés, or premium hospitality concepts will be given preference.
Experience limited exclusively to traditional quick-service coffee operations may not provide the breadth of experience required for this role.

$20–$24/hour depending on experience
