Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) – Busy Walk-In / Urgent Care Clinic

We are seeking a dependable, energetic, and patient-focused Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to join our team in a busy, fast-paced walk-in/urgent care clinic.
This position is ideal for a nurse who enjoys variety, independence, teamwork, and acute ambulatory care. Our clinics see patients of all ages with a broad range of medical concerns, and our nurses play an important role in keeping patient care safe, efficient, and well organized.
Hours of Operation
Our clinics are open 7 days a week.
Monday–Friday:
7:45 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Saturday & Sunday:
7:45 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Applicants should have flexibility to work a combination of weekday and weekend shifts. Weekend availability is an important part of this position.
Compensation
$25.00–$28.00 per hour, depending on experience, demonstrated clinical competency, and ability to work independently within the clinic environment.
Key Responsibilities
The clinic nurse works closely with physicians, reception staff, and other members of the healthcare team. Responsibilities may include:
- Triage and initial assessment of walk-in patients
- Obtaining and documenting vital signs
- Recognizing patients requiring urgent physician assessment
- ECG acquisition
- Point-of-care testing
- Urine testing and pregnancy testing
- Blood glucose testing
- Specimen collection and preparation
- Medication administration as ordered
- Injections and immunizations
- Wound assessment, cleaning, dressing, and follow-up care
- Suture and staple removal
- Assisting physicians with minor procedures
- Preparing patients and equipment for procedures
- Assisting with emergencies and acutely ill patients
- Maintaining emergency equipment and clinical supplies
- Infection prevention and control
- Cleaning and preparing examination and procedure rooms
- Documentation of nursing assessments and interventions
- Patient education and discharge instructions
- Maintaining accurate clinical records
- Supporting efficient patient flow throughout the clinic
- Working collaboratively with physicians and clinic staff during high-volume periods
Qualifications
Applicants should have:
- Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- Strong clinical assessment skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Good organizational and time-management abilities
- Ability to prioritize competing clinical demands
- Ability to remain calm and professional in a busy environment
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Comfortable working with pediatric, adult, and elderly patients
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
- Strong commitment to patient safety and confidentiality
Preferred Experience
Experience in any of the following areas would be an asset:
- Walk-in clinic
- Urgent care
- Emergency department
- Family practice
- Ambulatory care
- Community nursing
- Pediatric care
- Wound care
- Immunizations
- ECGs and point-of-care testing
Newer RPN graduates with strong clinical skills and an eagerness to learn are also encouraged to apply.
