Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optical Assistant to join our team. The role will be full time with availability required on Saturdays and Sundays being very important for majority of weekends. In this role, you will support the daily operations of our optical practice, ensuring that patients receive exceptional service and care. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of optical knowledge and retail experience, contributing to a positive patient experience while assisting with various tasks within the practice.
Duties
- Greet patients warmly and assist them with their needs upon arrival.
- Provide support in the fitting and adjustment of eyewear, ensuring proper alignment and comfort.
- Maintain an organized inventory of optical products, including lenses and frames.
- Assist in the management of patient records using Epic software, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
- Educate patients on eyewear options, lens types, and care instructions to enhance their understanding of products.
- Collaborate with optometrists and other staff members to ensure smooth patient flow and optimal service delivery.
- Handle retail sales transactions efficiently while providing excellent customer service.
- Stay updated on medical terminology related to eye care to effectively communicate with patients and staff.
Experience
- Previous experience in an optical setting is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with medical terminology relevant to eye care is preferred.
- Laboratory experience is a plus, particularly in relation to lens fabrication or adjustments.
- Retail sales experience is essential; experience in retail management is a bonus.
