Job Overview
We are seeking a friendly and detail-oriented Cashier to join our retail team. Part-time, full time and also overnight shift available. The ideal candidate will provide excellent customer service, handle transactions efficiently, and contribute to a positive shopping experience. This role requires strong communication skills, organizational abilities, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Bilingual (French/ English) is required. Multilingual skills are a plus, as is experience with POS systems and retail sales. The Cashier will be responsible for managing transactions and maintaining a clean and organized checkout area.
Responsibilities
1. Greet every customer entering the store in a courteous manner
2. Operate the cash, loto machine, and fax machine
3. Provide secondary services such as answering the telephone and customer inquiries
4. Provide customers with proper change and receipt
5. Collect all gas sales from Gas Pump Attendants.
6. Balance float at the start & end of each shift
7. Perform required Inventory of lotos, cigarettes and alcohol at the start and end of each shift
8. Complete and sign "Daily Cash Balance Sheet"
9. Verify that the shift before has left the area in an organized manner for the start of the present shift, otherwise, then please advise the supervisor or leave a note in with your cash envelope
10. Notify supervisor Immediately of any emergency situations ex: out of cash tape, gas alarm will not stop after initiating the STOP sequence, out of change, power failure...
11. Assist supervisor with order reception, placement of stock on shelves, and regular facing of merchandise
12. At regular intervals during the shift, perform inspection and dusting of all products and product shelving units
13. Clean and maintain organized store at all times
14. Emptying the cash garbage can and replacing with a fresh bag during each shift
15. On occasion during rain or snow, mopping wet floors and placing caution sign in view for the safety of staff and customers
16. Communicate with gas pump attendants via intercom when monies are owed to the cash
17. In the event of gas theft or incident at the store provide a detailed written report and camera video footage or if necessary, contact supervisor
Pay: $17.00-$20.00 per hour
