About Us
The Upper Village BIA is looking for a creative, reliable, and community-minded Social Media Coordinator to help bring our neighbourhood to life online.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys being out in the community, creating engaging content, and telling stories through short-form video and visuals. You will work closely with the BIA team to showcase local businesses, promote events, and highlight everything that makes Upper Village a vibrant place to visit, shop, and explore.
Key ResponsibilitiesSocial Media Content Creation & Management
Create and manage content across:
- Instagram (including Reels)
- TikTok
- Facebook
Community Content Capture
Visit local businesses within the BIA to:
- Record short-form videos (Reels and TikToks)
- Capture photos of storefronts, products, events, and experiences
- Engage with business owners and community members
Brand Storytelling & Marketing
Develop engaging, on-brand content that highlights:
- Local businesses
- Events and promotions
- Seasonal moments and neighbourhood features
- Community initiatives
Design & Content Planning
- Create graphics and marketing materials using Canva or similar tools
- Assist with content planning and scheduling
- Stay current on social media trends and recommend fresh ideas
- Collaborate with the BIA team to execute campaigns and initiatives
Qualifications
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has experience creating content for social media, especially short-form video
- Is comfortable working on-site and interacting with local businesses
- Understands Instagram Reels and TikTok trends
- Has graphic design skills (Canva or similar platforms)
- Has a strong eye for visuals, storytelling, and branding
- Can work independently and meet deadlines
- Is friendly, professional, and community-oriented
Nice to Have
- Experience working with BIAs, local businesses, or community events
- Video editing experience
- Photography skills
- Experience with scheduling tools (e.g. Meta Business Suite)
- Familiarity with AI tools

- Location: In-person, with regular on-site visits throughout the Upper Village neighbourhood
