Athabasca County is currently accepting applications for casual Community Transportation Drivers to join our team. Reporting to the Program Assistant, our Community Transportation Drivers are responsible for the safe and reliable operation of Athabasca County passenger vans and vehicles throughout Athabasca County, the Town of Athabasca, and Village of Boyle. We are seeking kind and compassionate individuals to support the transportation needs of seniors and individuals with mobility or accessibility challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate company vehicles to transport passengers to and from a variety of locations in Athabasca County and surrounding areas, including appointments in the Edmonton area.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and company safety regulations as required.
- Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor, fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment for clients.
- Maintain cleanliness and regular maintenance of vehicles, including conducting pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
- Keep accurate records of vehicle mileage, fuel consumption, passenger counts and fare collection, and any other required records/documentation.
- Communicate effectively with dispatcher and other team members to coordinate schedules and respond to service requests.
- Assist passengers with mobility aids and other special needs as required.
- Follow company policies and procedures at all times.
- Other duties as assigned.
Key Qualifications & Skills:
- Valid Class 1, 2, or 4 driver’s license and a 5 year drivers abstract.
- Clean Criminal Records Check, including vulnerable sector clearance.
- Valid First Aid & CPR certification, or the ability to obtain.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of the Athabasca County area and surrounding communities with proficiency in route planning and efficient transportation operations.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
The hourly salary range for this position is $23.85 – $29.83.
