Port Colborne has hockey in its bones - it’s the hometown of NHL Hall of Famer Ted Kennedy, and that legacy runs deep in this community. The Port Colborne Sailors, a club in the Greater Ontario Hockey League (GOHL), are under new management and building something special: a program that honors this town’s history while creating new memories for the next generation of fans and players.
We’re looking for a driven relationship-builder to help fuel that vision - someone who can connect local businesses and community partners to a program on the rise, and turn that connection into lasting support for the club. With our established network of affiliations and partnerships, this role is a real stepping stone for anyone looking to build a career in sports business and sponsorship.
Responsibilities
- Identify, approach, and secure new sponsors and advertising partners
- Maintain and grow relationships with existing sponsors
- Develop sponsorship packages and pitch materials (arena signage, jersey/helmet ads, digital promotions, etc.)
- Coordinate sponsor deliverables and ensure agreements are fulfilled (recognition, signage, social media mentions, etc.)
- Attend games and community events to represent the club and network with potential partners
- Track sponsorship revenue, renewals, and outstanding commitments
- Collaborate with team management and social media staff to promote sponsors across our platforms
Qualifications
- Experience in sales, business development, or sponsorship/partnerships (sports industry experience an asset)
- Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and meet targets
- Comfortable networking with local business owners and community members
- Availability to attend home games and events (evenings/weekends as needed)
