The Knox Contracting Group is growing, and we're looking for an experienced Lead Carpenter to join our team.
This is not an entry-level position. We're looking for someone who can take ownership of projects, lead crews, maintain quality standards, and represent our company professionally on site.
We build high-end custom homes, commercial spaces, medical and dental facilities, renovations, and restoration projects throughout Vancouver Island.
What You'll Do
- Lead carpentry/labour crews on residential and commercial projects
- Coordinate daily site activities and manage subcontractors as required
- Read and interpret plans, specifications, and shop drawings
- Complete framing, finishing, and general carpentry work to a high standard
- Ensure projects stay on schedule and meet quality expectations
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site
- Communicate effectively with Project Managers, Site Superintendents, clients, and trades
- Train and mentor apprentices and junior carpenters
- Identify issues before they become problems and help develop solutions
What We're Looking For
- Journeyperson Carpenter certification preferred (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum 5 years of carpentry experience
- Proven leadership experience managing crews and projects
- Strong understanding of residential and commercial construction practices
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Positive attitude and team-first mentality
