FAMILY TIME COACH
(1 Permanent Part-time Position Available)
About the position:
McMan’s Family Intervention program is looking for an experienced Family Time Coach. If you are knowledgeable about family dynamics, addiction, domestic violence, developmental disabilities, mental health disorders, and complex behaviors and want to make a difference, this role is for you.
Reporting to the Program Supervisor- The Family Time Coach supports the family reunification (family visits/family connection) process by organizing and engaging with families towards established goals. The position works as part of the team that provides opportunities for children to be transported from their current residence to a scheduled visitation location in the community or home, implementing early childhood development techniques, and ensuring supportive learning opportunities for the child and family using a variety of strategies.
Hours: This position guarantees a minimum of 22 hours per week. Additional hours may be available based on program needs and employee availability.
Location: Edmonton, Alberta and Surrounding area
What you’ll do:
· Develop effective working relationships with families and the community
· Develop strong partnerships with a multi-disciplinary team
· Remain open-minded and can build and maintain healthy relationships
· Provide Crisis Management
· Offer support and guidance to children and families
· Support competency skill development for all members of the family
· Facilitator of a safe and supportive learning environment for children and their parents/guardians to work on their relationship and potential reunification
· Fully engaging supervised and/or supported visits with children, siblings and their parents/caregivers
What you bring:
· Completion of a Degree/Diploma in Child and Youth Care, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology
· Equivalencies may be considered
· Please note that applicants with a degree or diploma in Social Work from a university accredited by the Alberta College of Social Workers are required to be registered with the College (RSW) before starting or obtaining registration within three months of hire.
· 2 years of directly related experience in youth and/or family work
· Police Information Check, including the Vulnerable Persons Sector Check (from within the last 6 months)
· Children's Services Intervention Record Check (from within the last 6 months)
· Training in Relationship-Based Practice, Child in Relationship, Kids Have Stress Too, Early Brain Development and Trauma-Informed Practice are assets
· Flexibility and adaptability to work varied hours based on family and program requirements.
· Knowledge of child development, parenting skills, mental health disorders and complex behaviours
· Organizational skills and ability to prioritize
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Excellent knowledge of the Child, Youth and Family Enhancement Act
· An understanding of Signs of Safety is an asset
· Emergency First Aid-Level C CPR + AED.
· Class 5 driver’s license, current driver’s abstract, reliable vehicle, $2 Million auto insurance and comfort with driving to various locations are required. Three years’ driving experience with a valid class 5 license is an asset.
· CARE training (asset)
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer skills
