Position: Maintenance Planner – Buyer
Location: Mississauga
Shift: 8-Hour Day Shift (Flexible Start Time)

Pay Rate: $37.75/hour CAD
Summary Description
The Maintenance Planner is responsible for purchasing maintenance parts while planning, scheduling, and coordinating maintenance activities to maximize equipment reliability and minimize downtime. This role partners closely with Maintenance, Production, Engineering, Procurement, and outside vendors to ensure maintenance work is thoroughly planned, safely executed, and completed efficiently.
The successful candidate will support preventive and predictive maintenance programs, drive Maintenance Excellence initiatives, maintain the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), and continuously improve equipment reliability through effective planning and coordination.
What You'll Be Doing
Purchase maintenance parts, tools, and supplies to support maintenance operations.
Plan and schedule maintenance work in a timely, organized, and efficient manner.
Identify, evaluate, and reduce safety risks associated with maintenance activities.
Develop comprehensive maintenance job plans that include:
Required preparation work
Labor requirements
Parts and materials
Documentation
Tools and equipment
Safety procedures and permits
Post-maintenance activities
Prioritize Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Predictive Maintenance (PdM) activities within maintenance schedules.
Ensure preventive maintenance programs effectively reduce equipment failures and unplanned downtime.
Maintain accurate PM task lists, equipment information, and maintenance frequencies within the CMMS.
Ensure all production equipment has accurate spare parts information documented in the CMMS.
Plan and coordinate scheduled maintenance downtime to maximize equipment reliability.
Identify required spare parts and verify availability before scheduled maintenance activities.
Partner with maintenance personnel to manage maintenance inventory and spare parts.
Request purchase orders for maintenance parts, tools, and contracted services.
Develop daily and weekly schedules for preventive, predictive, corrective, and planned maintenance work.
Coordinate planned maintenance activities with Production, Engineering, Maintenance, and outside contractors.
Convert emergency and reactive maintenance work into planned work whenever practical.
Monitor, track, and report maintenance backlog, schedule compliance, and planning metrics.
Maintain and continuously improve the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Collaborate with maintenance technicians to define job scope, work procedures, labor requirements, and execution plans.
Participate in planned shutdowns, maintenance outages, and equipment improvement projects.
Support Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations and implementation of corrective actions.
Coordinate external contractors, OEM service providers, and specialty vendors.
Serve as the primary liaison between Maintenance, Production, Procurement, Storeroom personnel, and outside vendors.
Attend daily production meetings, scheduling meetings, and maintenance planning sessions.
Communicate maintenance schedule changes, equipment status updates, and planned downtime requirements.
Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability, maintenance excellence, and cost reduction.

You have technical schooling, specialized maintenance training, or an associate degree in a maintenance-related field (1–2 years required; 2–5 years preferred).
You have at least two years of industrial maintenance experience in one or more of the following disciplines:
Mechanical Maintenance
Electrical Maintenance
Millwright
Multi-Craft Maintenance
You have experience using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) such as SAP PM, Maximo, eMaint, MVP, or similar platforms.
You understand Preventive Maintenance (PM), Predictive Maintenance (PdM), and Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) principles.
You can read and interpret technical drawings, OEM manuals, equipment documentation, and maintenance job plans.
You have experience supporting maintenance operations in a 24/7 manufacturing or industrial environment.
You possess strong communication, planning, coordination, and organizational skills.
You have the technical knowledge and credibility to work effectively alongside maintenance technicians and engineering teams.
You have experience with maintenance planning, scheduling, purchasing, inventory management, or reliability initiatives.
You are comfortable coordinating contractors, vendors, and cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
Two to five years of technical education or specialized maintenance training.
Previous experience as a Maintenance Planner, Maintenance Scheduler, Lead Technician, or similar maintenance leadership role.
Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), or Maintenance Excellence initiatives.
Experience coordinating contractors and maintenance improvement projects.
Familiarity with spare parts management, purchasing, inventory control, and procurement processes.
