Wee Care Child Center is looking for Child Care Assistants to join our team! We are looking for someone who is passionate about creating a fun, stimulating, and supportive environment for early learners. Wee Care Center strives to provide a warm and welcoming workplace for our staff. The ideal candidate must be able to communicate effectively with management, co-workers, children, and parents. They must be highly motivated and willing to work cooperatively with a variety of age groups in a team or solo setting.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Providing a warm and nurturing environment for children to learn and grow.
· Observing children and behaviours and communicating needs with the supervisor and co-workers.
· Help develop and implement rich programming and activities for the children to participate in.
· Guiding and assisting children in development of proper eating, dressing, hygiene, and toilet habits.
· Work alongside co-workers to communicate effectively with parents through daily
communication, correspondence, and journals.
· Working with the supervisor and co-workers to maintain the center (furniture, toys, cleanliness, and organization).
· Reading and following Wee Care Center’s policies and expectations.
Qualifications:
· Classification as Child Care Assistant, or a willingness to be classified.
· First Aid Certification
· A strong interest in working with children.
· Previous experience or history working in childcare is an asset.
· Strong problem solving, decision making and critical thinking skills.
· Excellent people skills, able to listen and provide feedback.
· Effective communication with all ages of children.
· Flexibility regarding shifts and programs.
Our childcare center is located in the rural community of Carman, Manitoba. We have two separate buildings where we provide care to children from Carman and the surrounding area. Our main center provides care for infants up to preschool age and is licensed for 74 children. Our second location provides care to school age children and is licensed for 45 children, ages 5 to 12 years old.
All applicants must be willing to obtain an up-to-date Criminal Record check and Child Abuse Registry check. Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident. New staff must complete a three-month probationary period before benefits and pension program can be accessed. Two weeks of holidays are obtained after one year of employment.
