Position Summary
haydn's is Toronto's first self-serve açaí and frozen yogurt bar. After a successful first year serving thousands of customers, we're looking for an exceptional General Manager to lead our flagship location and help build the next chapter of our company.
The General Manager is responsible for the overall success of haydn's at 28 Bathurst St and will report directly to the Founder/CEO. They will be trusted to operate haydn's as if it were their own business. This includes leading a team of 10-15 staff, ensuring exceptional customer service, managing inventory, maintaining store cleanliness, and scheduling shifts.
This is a hands-on leadership role. The General Manager will spend the majority of their time working alongside the team while also completing administrative and management responsibilities.
Compensation & Benefits
- $60,000-65,000 annual salary
- $0–$1,000 quarterly performance bonus awarded at the sole discretion of management based on individual and shop performance
- Two (2) weeks (10 working days) of paid vacation annually
- Up to $1,000 per calendar year in reimbursement for eligible health and wellness expenses, including dental care, vision care, physiotherapy, massage therapy, and other approved health services

Schedule
- Full-time position, typically five (5) days per week in-store
- Mondays are off (shop is closed)
- The second weekly day off will vary based on business needs and staffing requirements
- Weekend availability (Saturday & Sunday) is required
- Regular shifts include evenings, with some shifts ending at 11:00 PM
- Expected to work certain statutory holidays when the store is open, such as Canada Day, Family Day, and other designated operating days
- Expected to remain reasonably available by phone during business hours, respond promptly to operational issues and urgent staffing matters, and assist during emergencies or periods of unusually high business demand when required.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Recruit, hire, onboard, train, coach, and develop 10-15 team members
- Create weekly staff schedules and manage labour costs
- Foster a positive, accountable, and respectful team culture
- Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing coaching
- Address employee performance issues professionally and promptly
- Ensure all staff follow company policies, procedures, and food safety standards
Store Operations
- Oversee the day-to-day operation of the store
- Deliver welcoming, friendly, and engaging customer service
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organization, and food quality
- Jump in to support the team during busy periods, including operating the POS, preparing toppings, cleaning the shop, and assisting customers
- Resolve customer concerns professionally and efficiently
- Ensure opening and closing procedures are consistently followed
- Identify opportunities to improve operations and efficiency
Inventory & Administration
- Manage inventory levels and place product orders
- Stock and organize back-of-house inventory and the storage locker
- Monitor food waste and implement cost-control initiatives
- Complete administrative work, including scheduling, reporting, and record keeping
- Manage equipment preventive maintenance and communicate when repairs/replacements are needed
- Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements
Financial Performance
- Manage labour and food costs
- Support sales growth (i.e., new ideas, customer service, operational excellence, etc.)
- Help achieve store profitability goals

Qualifications
- 2+ years of management experience in food service, QSR, restaurant, café, or hospitality.
- Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays
- Experience managing inventory, scheduling, and basic budgets
- Experience leading and managing a team
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to ~40 lbs
