Job Summary
We are seeking reliable and hardworking Sorter - General Labourers to join our production team. In this role, you will support plant operations by sorting recyclable materials, maintaining cleanliness, assisting machine operators, and ensuring safe and efficient workflow throughout the facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Report to work on time and maintain full attendance reliability
- Follow all SOPs for safe operation and maintenance of equipment
- Inspect, sort, and separate materials by type, size, and color on production lines
- Remove contamination and non-conforming materials from conveyor systems
- Achieve sorting speeds of approximately 70–80 items per minute
- Identify and report large or unusual items (e.g., suitcases, chairs, boards) to Lead Hand
- Report all equipment malfunctions or workplace hazards immediately
- Clean conveyors, work areas, and surrounding spaces (sweeping, wiping, shoveling)
- Maintain clean, safe, and obstruction-free walkways and production areas
- Clean spills using appropriate tools (vacuum, squeegee, etc.)
- Assist in moving raw materials, finished goods, and equipment across the plant
- Support machine operators and production staff as required
- Check, count, and weigh materials during receiving and processing
- Open bags and sort materials for processing as required
- Pack, crate, and package materials when needed
- Perform general labour duties to support plant operations
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Ability to work in a fast-paced industrial environment
- Physically fit: able to lift, drag, and move heavy materials regularly
- Strong attention to detail for sorting and quality control
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Willingness to work shifts, including weekends if required
- Team player with good communication skills
- Previous manufacturing or recycling experience is an asset (not required)
