Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Prep Cook / Production Cook to join our main kitchen team. This role is primarily focused on large-quantity food preparation and cooking for catering orders, along with supporting regular restaurant operations when required.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable handling bulk prep, working from production lists, following recipes accurately, and preparing large batches of food in an organized and timely manner. Experience with Indian cuisine or high-volume kitchen production is considered an asset.
Responsibilities
Prepare large quantities of vegetables, meats, sauces, marinades, gravies, rice, and other ingredients
Assist with bulk cooking and production for catering orders
Follow recipes, prep lists, portion standards, and production requirements accurately
Ensure food is prepared on schedule and in the required quantities
Portion, label, cool, store, and organize prepared food correctly
Maintain consistency in taste, quality, and portion sizes
Support regular restaurant prep and basic line cooking when required
Maintain cleanliness of workstations, utensils, storage areas, and kitchen equipment
Follow proper food safety, sanitation, cooling, storage, and reheating procedures
Communicate with the kitchen team to ensure production is completed efficiently and on time
Requirements
Previous experience in a commercial kitchen, prep kitchen, catering kitchen, or high-volume food production environment preferred
Experience with Indian cuisine is an asset
Experience with bulk food preparation and cooking is strongly preferred
Ability to follow recipes, quantities, and production instructions accurately
Comfortable with repetitive prep work and preparing food in large batches
Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail
Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently as well as part of a team
Able to stand for long periods and lift kitchen supplies and food containers when required
Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and proper food handling practices
Flexible availability, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends as needed
Pay: $16.00-$21.00 per hour
