Prep Cook / Catering Assistant

Yo-Bones BBQ Catering Ltd. is a locally owned Southern-style BBQ restaurant and catering company serving the Lower Mainland.
Since launching as a single food truck in 2018, we've grown into a thriving business with a restaurant, food truck, online delivery through Uber Eats and DoorDash, and full-service catering for weddings, corporate events, film productions, festivals, and private functions.

About the Role
This is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys cooking, working as part of a team, and learning every aspect of the food service industry.
No two days are the same. Depending on the schedule, you may be preparing food in the kitchen, assisting with catering events, serving guests from our food truck, or supporting restaurant operations. If you're looking to build a long-term career in hospitality, this position offers valuable experience across multiple areas of the business.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and portion food for catering events, restaurant service, and corporate cafeteria operations.
- Assist with smoking meats and other BBQ production.
- Prepare ingredients and maintain high food quality standards.
- Load, transport, and set up catering equipment and food.
- Drive company vehicles to catering events when required.
- Serve guests at weddings, corporate events, private parties, festivals, and food truck events.
- Prepare and serve menu items at the restaurant and food truck.
- Assist customers, take orders, and process payments using the POS system.
- Receive, organize, and store deliveries.
- Assist with inventory management and purchasing.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen and work environment.
- Follow all food safety and workplace safety procedures.
- Perform opening and closing duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Legally authorized to work in Canada.
- Previous experience in a commercial kitchen or food service environment.
- Valid Canadian driver's licence or a valid international driver's licence with the ability to legally drive in Canada.
- Ability to lift up to 15 kg (33 lbs).
- Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends when required.

- Passion for cooking and hospitality.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications (Assets)
- Professional cooking experience.
- Food Safe Level 1 Certification.
- Serving It Right Certification.
- Experience with catering or event service.
- Experience operating a food truck or working in a fast-paced restaurant.
